Mr Eric Goh, Founder and Principal Geography Tutor
An MOE scholar, former Senior Teacher at Raffles Institution and Subject Head at Hwa Chong, Mr Goh has taught Geography since 2003. He teaches every GeogCafe Geography class himself.
Secondary, JC, IP, IB and IGCSE Geography, at Novena, Kembangan or online.
Who Mr Goh Is
Mr Eric Goh is the founder and principal tutor of GeogCafe. He read Geography at the National University of Singapore as an MOE scholar and received a teaching award while training at the National Institute of Education.
Over more than 20 years he has taught Geography and Social Studies at secondary schools, junior colleges and an international school, led overseas geography field trips, and trained NIE’s trainee teachers. Today he teaches Geography full time at GeogCafe, and has tutored students from almost every junior college in Singapore.

Jurong Junior College
Mr Goh's first posting. In 2005, more than half of his students scored a distinction for Geography, and the college was recognised by the Ministry of Education for value-added results in the subject.

Fairfield Methodist Secondary School
Taught Geography and Social Studies to Express and Normal stream students.

Hwa Chong International School
In 2011, Mr Goh was the only Geography teacher for the final-year IGCSE and IB cohorts. 48 per cent of students scored a distinction, and the mean subject grade improved by nearly one grade on the previous cohort. It was the school's best Geography result.

GeogCafe
Mr Goh started GeogCafe teaching home tuition students and grew it into small group classes at Novena and Kembangan. Since 2003 GeogCafe was founded.

How Mr Goh Teaches
knowing the concept well

Mr Goh’s classes are built around question discussion and problem solving rather than lecturing. He believes a Geography grade rests on two things: knowing the concepts well, and being able to apply them to past exam questions. His lessons use real-life examples, personal stories and demonstrations so students remember the concept when they need it in an exam.
